At the November 13 sitting of the tenth session of the eighth convocation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, presented the activities planned by the Ministry of Environment within the framework of the 2026 draft budget allocations. Considering the political and international significance for the country, Minister Matevosyan highlighted one of the largest upcoming environmental events to be held in Yerevan in October 2026—the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).
The Minister spoke about the significance of the event and its budgetary framework, and presented the organizational work underway. Minister Matevosyan also highlighted the opportunities created for Armenia through hosting and chairing the conference. By hosting COP17, Armenia will not only serve as the organizer of the event, but will also become a platform for global environmental dialogue, the main negotiator in the process, and a bridge at both the international and regional levels. All ongoing work fully complies with international UN conference standards, ensuring inclusiveness and an atmosphere of open dialogue.
